The Gateway itself does not hold or store any datasets or patient or health data. It provides information, or metadata, about datasets and how you can request access to these via the organisation that manages the data (the data custodian). All organisations making their datasets discoverable via the Gateway are expected to follow Health Data Research UK's Principles for Participation, which set out an approach for the ethical and responsible use of health data for research.
